Remembrance culture in municipal reponsibility
Brackenheim has made historical remembrance to its business. The Theodor Heuss Museum is a place where history is alive – especially as a perspective for next generations. The museum – reopened in 2000 – is willed to be a medium to convey the message of democracy as the life-form of the major son of this town to lots of visitors. The permanent exhibition is complemented by guided tours, seminars, events, special exhibitions and the program `museum makes school´. Heuss’ native town wants to make sure that the legacy of the great democrat lives on. The annual event on 31 January – birthday of the first president of the Federal Republic of Germany – is one part of the historical remembrance.
